SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF is Oleyl Alcohol and conforms to the National Formulary (NF) Monograph¹. SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF  is a mixture of high molecular weight saturated and unsaturated fatty alcohols where Oleyl Alcohol, the C18
mono-unsaturate is the predominant species. As a result of Super Refining², a flash chromatographic technology, SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF  is completely colorless, odorless and tasteless. This product is plant derived and therefore free of any animal derivatives.

Creams and Ointments
SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF is useful as a pharmaceutical aid in wetting and dispersing the active ingredient during the manufacturing process. The stabilizing power of SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF prevents creams and ointments from separating thereby enhancing shelf life. SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF is extremely useful in combination with petrolatum, castor oil and silicone.

Transdermal Drug Delivery (TDD)
The numerous features of SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF make it an ideal excipient for use in TDD dosage forms^3,4. SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF functions as an API solvent and penetration enhancer. SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF also has the ability to plasticize resins.

Lip Care and Stick Applications
With its exceptionally low color, odor and virtual lack of taste, SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF is the emollient of choice for lip care and stick products. In these systems, SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF acts as a solubilizer, particle dispersant, and stabilizing agent, as well as an emollient. SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF offers other advantages in that it is oxidatively stable, compatible with waxes commonly used in sticks. Additionally it is completely miscible with castor oil and petrolatum functioning to prevent the separation of these two ingredients. Stick products made using SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF display superior strength, good plasticity, and high gloss, with easy mold release.

Sun Screens
SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF is an excellent sunscreen solvent, producing a greaseless and non-tacky product that thins out on application. SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF is compatible with most sunscreen actives, including titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. In systems containing titanium dioxide or zinc oxide, SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF provides improved stability compared to other vehicles, such as isopropyl myristate or propylene glycol.

Antiperspirants and Deodorants
SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF is effective for all types of antiperspirants and deodorants. In aerosols and sprays, it is used as an emollient and anti-tack agent and as a valve lubricant. In dry talc-type sprays, it helps prevent agglomeration and helps improve the product's adherence to the skin. In solid varieties, SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF acts as a lubricating agent to allow the stick to glide over the skin. In gel products, it helps improve the clarity and strength of the gel. In roll-ons, SUPER REFINED NOVOL NF helps reduce the tackiness of the aluminum chlorohydrate active.
