Traditionally used to treat wounds and burns, due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it is ideal for use in cosmetics because of these same abilities. |

| The unsaponifiables from the seeds are the world's richest source of tocotrienol, a member of the Vitamin E group, known to be more effective in preventing damage caused by free radicals. It is from these seeds that Phytessence Urucum is derived. A popular combination for protection of the skin from the damage caused by UV light is Vitamin C and Vitamin E (typically tocopherol) in conjuction with a UV filter. The tocotrienol in Urucum outperforms tocopherol as seen by the results from a clinical study below.
