Keratec PEP

Moisturizing and Conditioning Peptide for Hair

Proteins and peptides have long been used in hair and skin care applications.  In hair care, they are often used to improve moisturization, manageability, and the look and feel of the hair and they are appealing from a marketing perspective as they are naturally found in skin and hair.
Derived from wool fibers shorn from New Zealand sheep, Keratec PEP is a "semi-reactive" keratin protein designed to moisturize and condition the hair.  Containing an unusually high level of cystine, it is inherently charged, giving it semi-reactivity in oxidative/reductive-type environments; therefore, it can bond with the hair fiber, providing permanent conditioning.  As such, it is an ideal protein for use in hair color, bleaching or permanent wave systems and is suitable for pre- and post-treatment products.
