Quaternized Lipid Conditioner, Developed Especially for the Skin

 
Croda, as the industry leader in the development of quaternized compounds, has now developed a quat especially for use in skin care.  Traditionally, quats are known for their excellent ability to condition the hair but were thought to be irritating if used on the skin.  Croda has discovered, as part of is cutting edge quat development program, that this is not the case. 

Incroquat QLC is a great skin care ingredient because it:

  • Is non-irritating to skin
  • Reduces transepidermal water loss
  • Improves skin appearance (Profilometry)

In addition, it provides these benefits:

  • Wide pH tolerance
  • Substantive to skin
  • Dispersible in water
  • Compatible in anionic surfactants
Incroquat QLC provides a measurable moisturizing effect for rinse-off formulations such as body washes and shower gels.  This was tested using a skin profilometry study.

 

In-Vivo Skin Profilometry Study
In this study, Incroquat QLC was added, at 2.5% and 5%, to 10% solutions of Ammonium Laureth Sulfate (ALES).  It was measured by average roughness (Ra) and roughness depth (Rzi) using a Hommel T-1000 Profilometer.  Incroquat QLC showed significant improvement in skin smoothness as shown by the graph above.
