The sap of the Croton lechleri tree has a long tradition of use as a protective skin covering - providing an anti-inflammatory film, or "second skin", when it dries after application. It earned its name of Dragon's Blood from the dark red sap that oozes out when the trunk is cut and makes the tree appear to be "bleeding". | |
