The sap of the Croton lechleri tree has a long tradition of use as a protective skin covering - providing an anti-inflammatory film, or "second skin", when it dries after application. It earned its name of Dragon's Blood from the dark red sap that oozes out when the trunk is cut and makes the tree appear to be "bleeding". | |
|
The traditional use for Dragon's Blood is in the treatment of wounds. When applied to the skin, it forms a protective shield that prevents further damage and helps to regenerate the skin. Recent studies prove that it also possesses anti-inflammatory and free radical scavenging activities that make it excellent for use in cosmetic applications targeting protection, anti-aging, and wellness of the skin. Its characteristic protective coating also makes it ideal for products designed for active individuals as it won't rub off during the activity and will protect against common hazards of outdoor sport such as pollution and the sun.
